Draft pick Bazzana makes his lone swing of the day count in big way
The Dodgers and Cubs will open the 2025 season with the two-game Tokyo Series on March 18-19. We’ll be counting down to that date with our annual preview series, with each story looking ahead to the coming season by breaking down a particular topic, division by division.
From a strategic perspective, La Liga hoped that staging an official fixture outside Spain would boost its international brand, tap new revenue streams and signal that Spanish football can compete on a global stage. The plan had already secured approval from domestic and UEFA authorities, positioning the league as a pioneer among major European competitions in this regard.
There have been a number of noteworthy deals this winter, with Kyle Tucker, Garrett Crochet, Cody Bellinger, Devin Williams, Josh Naylor, Jesús Luzardo, Brady Singer, Jonathan India, Gavin Lux and Andrés Giménez all changing teams. Other than the Reds’ acquisition of Lux from the Dodgers, all of those trades took place before the end of 2024, making for an inactive January on the trade market.
